#PartLengthSection Note
Top5′ 0″13″ × 1.75″Glued up from three or four boards, the joints laid out so the figure runs through.
Bearer × 28½″2.25″ × 1.5″Screwed to the top through slotted holes so the top can move across the grain and not split.
Post × 21′ 1″2.5″ × 2″Through-mortised for the stretcher. The mortise is cut before the post is tapered.
Foot × 210½″2.5″ × 1.75″Relieved underneath at the center so it stands on two pads and never rocks.
Stretcher3′ 10″1″ × 3″Runs through both posts and is held by the wedges alone. No glue in this joint.
Wedge × 42½″0.75″ × 1.1″Riven rather than sawn, so the grain follows the taper and the wedge cannot shear.
