Cut list
Numbered because the order is the work. 41 board feet finished, 55 bought rough.
| # | Part | Length | Section | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Top | 6′ 0″ | 37″ × 1.5″ | Glued up from three or four boards, the joints laid out so the figure runs through. |
| 2 | Bearer × 2 | 2′ 4″ | 3.25″ × 2.25″ | Screwed to the top through slotted holes so the top can move across the grain and not split. |
| 3 | Post × 2 | 1′ 11½″ | 3.5″ × 3″ | Through-mortised for the stretcher. The mortise is cut before the post is tapered. |
| 4 | Foot × 2 | 2′ 6″ | 3.5″ × 2.75″ | Relieved underneath at the center so it stands on two pads and never rocks. |
| 5 | Stretcher | 4′ 2″ | 1.5″ × 5.5″ | Runs through both posts and is held by the wedges alone. No glue in this joint. |
| 6 | Wedge × 4 | 5″ | 0.75″ × 1.1″ | Riven rather than sawn, so the grain follows the taper and the wedge cannot shear. |
